This review is for the free kindle version of this book.Myths and Legends of the Great Plains is a decent book of myths and legends (what else?) from the Great Plains region of the US. It includes many short stories, and also quite a few songs and poems. Each tale is tagged with what culture it is from, and there are many similar legends from different peoples so you can compare.
I did feel that the book was kept from greatness by a certain choppiness in the prose which made it a bit tricky to follow at times, although I'd still say to give it a try because the stories were worth reading.
The free version of this book does not have any illustrations, although the captions are still present in the text. There is an active table of contents and all the footnotes are properly linked.
Contains about 70 stories, most of them very short.

Though nothing earth-shaking this is a very nice and varied selection (better than many) of myths and legends from the Great Plains tribes. Judson is skilled enough to have chosen myths that exhibit the assorted influences of Indian spiritual beliefs very well.
